Ringing in 2012 is the annual UNIT “No Frills” NYE. A NYE tradition for us, we’ve created an evening with no NYE party pressure, no bottle service, no cover, no fancy party dresses or bad suits. Just the basics……a low key affair, familiar faces, your neighbourhood friends and family, good music, the venue you love, and of course your NYE shots.

Sandy and Mike! YOU HAVE OUR VOTE!
Sandy De Almeida and Mike Webster’s pop-up bar Kindling is recognised for making Toronto better this year by thegridto.com. They are a part of a list of people who made our fine city even finer over the past 12 months.
Veteran bar stars of the Gladstone and Drake, respectively, De Almeida and Webster first bonded over their shared love of liquor at—when else?—last call. Fast forward a few years (and probably a few drinks) and the prix-fixe cocktail pop-up Kindling was born. Thanks to their homemade syrups and expert drink-slinging, the success of their travelling bar—this year at booze haunts like Marben and Unit Bar—even had local mixologists like Jen Agg drinking the (spiked) Kool-Aid. Two booze enthusiasts walk into a bar—and the rest is history.

Thursday thru Saturday 7:00 p.m. until last call
Closed Sunday through Tuesday.

“Unit is one of those rare locations on Queen West that hasn’t been totally taken over by morons. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that most people have no idea where it’s located (next door to Gladstone) and I don’t think it’s open during the weekday, so maybe it’s hard to tell what happens in this nice little bar.”
“Service is good. The servers are quick and attentive. The bar is very busy, so you don’t expect the servers to spend time chatting. The bouncer at the door was helpful and friendly. He told us what was going on inside and let us in.”
“Best bar on the strip, hands down. Very intimate. dark. lovely staff. great djs. Industry feel. Hands down, BEST bar on the strip. Ask the bartender to make you a dark ‘n’ stormy.”
